How Do I Measure My Roller Shutter?

Get some expert installation tips on how to measure and install your roller shutter

Measuring Your Roller Shutters

There are three main methods for fixing your shutter to the aperture. Using the diagram to the right, work out which measurements you should take in order to obtain the most accurate quote from UK Shutters.

1) EXTERNAL FACE FIX

In this example the curtain is fastened across and in front of the opening as can be seen on the picture on the right.

You will need to make sure there is enough height above the opening to fit the box (C in the measuring plan), and to the left and right of the opening to fit the guides (A and B in the measuring plan). The box and guide sizes will depend on the size of the shutter and we will work that out for you. Please download the relevant CAD drawing which can be found on each product for more details as to what these sizes might be.

Providing there is enough room, the measurements we would need from you are points D and E in the measuring plan – giving us the opening size, and A, B and C in the measuring plan if you are worried the guides and box will not fit. All measurements are to be in mm if possible.

2) REVEAL FIX

In this example the curtain is fastened across and inside of the opening as can be seen on the picture on the right.

Bear in mind that when a shutter is fitted within a reveal, you will lose some of the structural opening. This is because the guides and box will take up some of the space. The box and guide sizes will depend on the size of the shutter and we will work that out for you. Please download the relevant CAD drawing which can be found on each product for more details as to what these sizes might be.

3) INTERNAL FACE FIX

In this example the curtain is fastened across and behind the opening as can be seen on the picture on the right.

You will need to make sure there is enough height above the opening to fit the box (C in the measuring plan), and to the left and right of the opening to fit the guides (A and B in the measuring plan).
